Tibetan Thangka Lives On.
New York Tibetan Art School was established in 2007 and is the only certified school teaching traditional Tibetan thangka painting in North America. Instruction is taught by Master Artist Pema Rinzin and classes are held in Rinzin’s studio in Brooklyn, New York.
Students who are part of the New York Tibetan Art School are engaged in a wide range of creative practices and professions beyond the studio. We frequently share information about our students’ outside projects, to illustrate the communication between the student’s work within New York Tibetan Art Studio and their outside practice.
New York Tibetan Art School is a resource for all art-education programs and universities that wish to offer instruction on Tibetan art and its artists. Founder, painter, and critic Pema Rinzin and his students are available to offer lectures, information, and presentations.
Beyond religious icons and tradition is a vision of an artist. Our students learn an understanding of Tibetan art through the qualities of the line, and composition, and expressions of individuality of historical artists.
